VITIATED LIVES

She was one of the lovely girls I've seen;
The one with huge brown eyes;
But she was in a place where she shouldn't have been;
The place where people lose their lives.

Yes, I saw her in a hospice,
Where destitute and ill ones abide.
She was dying for wis,
And there was her mom stood away by her side.

She was wearing a long frock, sweeping the floor,
And her face was completely covered with veil.
The way she behave was tart and sour;
It showed her concealed grief and dern wail.

She was lying and crying all alone,
She kept away from everyone;
Her face was taut, revealing her moan;
She remained calm and spoke to none.

I mustered up my courage
To go near and talk to her;
I wanted to ask why she is somber and sage;
And I sauntered to her with a quiver.

I enquired why she dwelled there;
And she took away her veil;
The face that should have been fair
Was sabotaged by a rabid male.

She was a rape victim,
Cruelly ruined and beat by a monster.
She was a despoiled, ravished bim;
Still trying to recover from that terror.

When she was dying, she held my hand
And she said, "when will all these end?
What sin have we done? Born on this land
Or born as a woman?" she cried and wended.

Why do you see a woman just as a flesh?
She has emotions and soul;
She has her own life to relish;
And she is someone like us all.

When God created the Universe,
He created man and woman together
To help, to love, to nurture, to nurse
Each other; Not to enslave her for your pleasure.

The world is being urbanized,
But women are still being apprehended,
Assassinated viciously and harassed.
Who is answerable for all that had happened?

A woman could be your mother,
Your sister, your wife or your friend.
It is a man's responsiblity to look after her,
And put an end to this torment.
